Crushing Fear – Day 12 – Self Doubt

I seek strength, not to be greater than others, but to fight my greatest enemy, the doubts within myself.

— P.C. Cast —

Fun Fact

Even though I’m not a big TV watcher, I’ve always enjoyed watching American Idol.

I enjoy American Idol because I get a big charge from observing people confidently overcome their fears and self-doubts by giving their best in front of a worldwide audience.

You don’t make it to the finals of American Idol unless you’ve learned how to face fear and self-doubt.

Fact

Self-doubt is another feeling born out of fear, and the more the devil can get us to doubt ourselves, the less we will accomplish.

The ultimate dream crusher is not failure; it is self-doubt. Somewhere along the path of our personal journey, the enemy got us to buy into a lie that we were never going to be quite good enough.

Action

Self-doubt is conquered by taking action, and action means prayer and lots and lots of action through practice.

As Vincent van Gogh once said, “If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint, and that voice will be silenced.”

Today I know the difference between living in doubt or living in confidence is courage born from a faith in a God who always wants me to succeed.

Hebrews 11:1 (NIV), “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”

Reflection:

What beliefs, thoughts, and actions cause you to struggle with self-doubt?

Additional Scripture to read and reflect on:  Proverbs 3:26, 2 Corinthians 3:5, Isaiah 41:10
