My Plea
There’s a lot going on in our world these days—wars, political hostility, keyboard/social media conflicts, and polarizing debates over everything from vaccines to religion to climate change. Meanwhile, the things that truly matter often get pushed to the margins—food insecurity, homelessness, addictions, broken families, and kids who don’t know where they’ll sleep tonight.
And then there are those fighting private battles most of us never see—battles for their very lives.
At the top of my prayer list, which includes the names of forty-three people, are three people doing just that.
Two are currently enduring chemotherapy, praying for healing while fighting through brutal side effects.
The third is a 16-year-old young man named Kane, one of the best in the world at Australian football in his age group. Just weeks ago, he was strong, athletic, and full of promise—until a tumor at the base of his brain changed everything. Today, after removal of the cancer and a biopsy of his spine to check for metastasis, Kane is using every ounce of strength to endure the pain, anxiety, and uncertainty associated with the aftereffects of major brain surgery.
What inspires me is not their suffering—but their faith. All three are Christ-followers who know that eternity is not a fearful destination—but none of them are giving up. They are fighting with hope, refusing to quit, and trusting God step by step. Kane’s mom shared with those of us following his journey on CaringBridge that Kane often prays for the doctors, nurses, and nursing attendants providing his care…YES, a 16-year-old Jesus follower walking the walk and not just talking the talk.
This isn’t just a post—it’s a plea. To my readers—over ten thousand strong—I’m asking you to join me in lifting these three warriors and their families in prayer. When the world feels overwhelming, prayer brings power where fear brings paralysis…I always write from experience.
If you need names, please refer to them as Runner Guy, Horse Lover Lady, and Kane, and pray this prayer daily if you are able:
Heavenly Father,
I come before You today on behalf of three warriors—each battling pain, fear, and uncertainty. You know their names, their struggles, and every tear their families have cried. I ask for Your healing hand to rest upon them. Strengthen their bodies, steady their minds, and surround them with Your peace that passes all understanding. Remind them that they are never alone—You are their refuge, their healer, and their hope. Lift their spirits, guide their doctors, and renew their faith day by day.
And Lord, stir my heart to carry them in prayer—not just today, but continually.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Please pass this prayer on to other prayer warriors.
