Proverbs 2:1-5, “My son if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”Â
Proverbs 2:21-22, “For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain it it; but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.”
There is an old saying, “If you tell the truth at 9am, you won’t need to remember what you said when it is 3pm.” In other words living life the right way will reduce the amount of energy and effort it takes in living…at least that is what that saying means to mean.
There are consequences to all of our actions. Some are good and some are bad. The good Lord has set up a system that is pretty amazing.Â
If we think we are something special, something will happen that proves we are not, if we think we are worthless, something will happen that proves we are not, if we think we’ve got it all figured out, something will happen that proves we don’t, if we think we are getting away with something, something will happen proving otherwise. If we think money is the answer, something will happen to prove that theory wrong. If we think people, places and things will help us overcome our problems…you got it…something will happen to prove otherwise.
I’ve lived and experienced life long enough to tell know first hand, what goes around comes around and my goal today is to never have to experience “negative come arounds” again.  “Negative come arounds” are the consequences of our actions which are not aligned with God. God doesn’t punish us, he doesn’t have to because we punish ourselves through the consequences of our actions.
This thought came to me as I was reading my Proverb for the day. In Proverbs 2 Solomon encourages us to store up God’s words and commands in our hearts in order to do things the right way and in turn remain with Him in His land. Living right does not guarantee a free pass from challenges and tragedy. Living right and seeking God’s wisdom in all we do, does guarantee we will be able to handle the challenges life throws at us but more importantly help us avoid creating unneeded challenges of our own making.
