20 More-Another Random Thought

“At the heart of each of us, whatever our imperfections, there exists a silent pulse of perfect rhythm, which is absolutely individual and unique, and yet which connects us to everything else.”  ~George Leonard

I love this quote by Mr. Leonard and created a “random thought moment” for today’s blog.

Leonard’s quote reminded me of the other day when I was running a 6.5 mile loop on the beautiful bike path in Piqua, Ohio.  I’ve been battling a heel problem for several months and recently it has really gotten bad. At the 4 mile point of my run the pain in my right heel was almost excruciating but the pain had not reached a point where I couldn’t move, so I kept going…story of my life.  🙂

Anyway, at the 4 mile point I said to myself, “only 2 miles to go which equates into 20 tenths of a mile to go.”  The bike path in Piqua is marked every 10th of a mile and I’m used to utilizing the 1/10 signs in order to keep my pace.  Basically I said to myself, “you only have 20 more signs to go.”

Then I thought to myself, “How many people go through life thinking ‘I only have this much to go?’  You know what I’m talking about, the “clock watchers” the people who are always in a hurry going from task to task.  I used to be that way but living with a creative/artsy type person (my wife Lori), has helped me “get into the moment” and in-turn observe the beauty in moments.

Are you living mile marker to mile marker without noticing the beauty in-between?

How is your life rhythm?

(re-read Leonard’s quote above)

Do you feel connected to the world?  (I’m talking about the real world, not the internet or social media world)

These are all choices.
