Great freedom is gained when the constant need of approval from others is lost.
The thought above came to me on a long bike ride the other day…3 hours with just me and my committee in my head generates some amazing stuff. 🙂
Somewhere along the line, the human mind has been trained to want to fall in line with the herd instead of actually thinking on its own. My guess is that our feel good chemical in our brain (dopamine) is released when we are around others and they are telling us we are OK. This is not a bad thing, but it does become a bad thing when we constantly need approval from others in order to live our lives in a state of joy and hope.
I’ve never been one to run blindly with a herd. Hope in human beings is quite transient and temporal. Hope in God is permanent and eternal.
You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. Your can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go. ~Dr. Suess
Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as your trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” (NIV)
