It’s a new year and the first day of a new month and I just got done reading Proverbs 1.Â
For years part of my morning discipline of prayer and devotion includeds reading the Proverb that corresponds with the day of the month. It always amazes me how many times I can read scripture from the Bible and dependent upon where I am in my walk certain scripture “jumps” out at me and gets my attention.  Because of this it is safe to surmise that the Bible is indeed God’s word and it is alive, and when we read it He is talking to us.  God always has every base covered.
Ok so here is what God told me today in Proverbs 1:
Proverbs 1:7, “The fear (respect of His awesome powers) of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”
Proverbs 1:29-32, “Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord, since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.”Â
When I read these verses I simply said Amen and Amen. The greatest part of my screwed up past is the experience I gained from being a fool and doing it my way compared to my life today where I am trying my best to do it God’s way.
Bottom line…if I believe in God and His awesome power and wisdom why wouldn’t I call on Him to be my number one mentor? Â
This stuff is only as complicated as us and our free will wants to make it.
