“Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.â€Â ~Les Brown
Les Brown’s quotes are so plain, simple and to the point.
I often feel grateful for the fact I was born with a spirit of independence…actually it was more a spirit of rebellion but my crash and burn twenty-six years helped me understand the difference between being independent and being a rebel. Today I would describe myself as independent. In other words I do not place the outcome of my days, weeks, months, years or my life in other people, places and things’ hands.
The only dependence I do have is a dependence on God. I give Him my days, which are aligned with my life purpose and ask Him to make them better than I would ever have a chance of making them. Then I thank Him at the end of the day…I think I just wrote about this a couple of days ago.
Enough about me. How about you? Do you accept responsibility for your life? Actually before you can answer that question; do you know where you want to go?
For those of you who’ve followed this blog since the beginning of the year, 2013 was a year of defining our life purpose/vision and developing a plan to get there.
So how has 2013 been? Are you more connected to your purpose? Have you taken time to create two or three goals with deadlines to meet that will help you fulfill your purpose?
If you answered yes to all the above…CONGRATULATIONS!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
If you answered no to some or all the above…there are only two steps required to achieve a goal…START AND CONTINUE…START TODAY AND CONTINUE TOMORROW! Stop the excuses, get up off your hind end, roll up your mat (read the scripture below), and start walking and working toward your purpose.
…it’s your choice as well as your responsibility…

John 5:6-9, “When Jesus saw him and knew he had been ill for a long time, he asked him, ‘would you like to get well?’ ‘I can’t sir,’ the sick man said, ‘for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else always gets there ahead of me. Jesus told him, ‘stand up, pick up your mat, and walk.!’ Instantly the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking!”
