Super FOCUS

“Goals provide the energy source that powers our lives.  One of the best ways we can get the most from the energy we have is to focus it.  That is what goals can do for us; concentrate our energy.”  ~Denis Waitely

Today is Super Bowl XLVII and is the day I brush up on my ability to translate the Roman numeral system to numbers I understand.

People ask me who I want to win.  Honestly, I dislike both teams.

Not that I ever feel the need to justify my thoughts, let me tell you why I have such a disdain for these two teams.

The 49er’s beat my Bengals in each of their two Super Bowl appearances.  The Baltimore Ravens franchise is the original Cleveland Browns franchise and was founded by Art Modell who fired the Browns coach, Paul Brown, when I was an ardent Browns fan and then Brown went on to found my Bengals.  This plot is getting deeper than an Austin Powers movie, so I better stop.

Anyway back to the question about which team will win.

When I watched the Ravens pummel my Bengals in week one of this NFL season I said the Ravens would win the Super Bowl…regardless of my feelings about them.

Now here we are on the day of Super Bowl 47…much easier than XLVII…and although I’m still standing by my pick from way back in September, the team with the most FOCUS in the days leading up to and on the day of the game and during the game will win the game.

At this point in the season both teams obviously have the talent, the coaches, the systems, the game plans, the physical strength and endurance (with or without deer antler velvet) to win this game.

At this point in the season it all comes down to FOCUS which is the ability to concentrate ALL energy and attention toward a common goal.

Where is your FOCUS these days?  Do you know what your God-Purpose Goal is?  If so, are you focused on doing the things you need to do in order to achieve it?

May the best team win and I will be happy with whoever loses… 🙂

Philippians 3:13, “Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.  But one thing I do:  Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
