“The law of process says–leaders develop daily, not in a day.” ~John Maxwell
I can usually tell how effective of a leader a person is or may become by asking them about their daily rituals focused on personal growth. Leadership begins with personal leadership. You can only lead others as far as you’ve led yourself.
If you are aspiring to become a leader take a look at what you are doing in order to stay strong and grow spiritually, emotionally, physically, professional, relationally, and financially one day at a time.
The key is to focus on these six areas and seek balance between them all. I know people who pour their entire life works into their profession but yet are dead spiritually, emotionally and are morbidly obese, divorced a couple times and in debt up to their ears.
For me, I love to work out and could spend 4 hours a day training, but I have the other five areas to tend to.
I’ve developed a morning ritual in order to take care of the first four in a couple hours: I pray and read the Bible (spiritual), I read professionally related books and articles for about thirty minutes (professional) and then I workout for an hour (physical). These three activities do wonders for my mind (emotional) so by 7:30am I am usually ready to take on the day and seek positive interaction with others (relations) while trying my best to always spend less than I make (financial).
Don’t feel like you need to pack the majority of your rituals into the early hours of the day. I’ve developed my morning ritual because we have a special needs guy that gets up around 7:30AM and when he awakes my mind shifts into a different gear as I try my best to assist my wife in getting him ready for the day…and every day is a new adventure with Jordan. 🙂
I’ve learned how to plan my day around my rituals and not vice versa because they are very important to me and who I want to be.
What are your daily rituals?
Are they helping your grow or helping you digress?
…it only takes two steps to create a new habit…start and continue…
