Reflection
A couple of days ago, I was driving home after watching my Bengals beat the Tennessee Titans 43–36 in an overtime thriller. I always keep my maps app running in case of an accident ahead, and sure enough, about 25 miles north of Cincinnati, it rerouted me.
As I crawled toward the exit, I said a quick prayer for the people involved in the accident.
I’ve practiced this habit for years, partly because I’m not the most patient person in the world. I was stuck in traffic, but I was safe and headed home, and that was worth being thankful for.
Gratitude isn’t something we wait to feel; it’s something we choose to practice, especially when life feels heavy, or our golf game has left us. 🙂
When we focus on God’s goodness instead of our circumstances, we anchor ourselves in truth, not emotion.
Over time, gratitude replaces complaining as our default response. And the more we thank God for what we have, the more clearly we see the blessings that were there all along.
Gratitude doesn’t change our situation. It changes us…I always write from experience.
BTW…
Paul wrote letters of gratitude from prison!!!!
That alone should grab our attention.
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)

Where has complaining replaced God in your mindset?
