Falling Forward – Day 27 – Adjust

The obstacle in the path becomes the path. Never forget, within every obstacle is an opportunity to improve our condition.

— Ryan Holiday —

To the right of my trusty DR is the tree blocking the old path. To the left is the new path around it.

Reflection

Last week, I did my annual path clearing through the woods at Serenity Acres.

This year’s storms had taken down an unusual number of trees, so I headed out with my chainsaw. Most were easy to slice and dice, but one was different.

It was big, awkwardly positioned, and too big to cut safely.

So what did I do?

I created a path around it.

Life is a lot like that.

How often do we encounter an obstacle, get frustrated because things aren’t going as planned, and simply give up?

We get so focused on how we think things should be that we overlook what could be.

Sometimes we can’t go through it, over it, or under it. But that doesn’t mean we can’t go around it.

I’ve learned that God’s plans don’t always follow the paths I’ve cleared for myself.

And sometimes the unexpected detour becomes the road that changes everything.

Falling forward isn’t always about removing the obstacle. Sometimes it’s about finding another way.

Soul Search

What obstacle am I allowing to stop me when God may simply be inviting me to take a different path?

“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”
