National Recovery Month – Day 3 – More Surrender

Surrender to what is. Let go of what was. Have faith in what will be.

— Sonia Ricotti —

Reflection

I once thought surrender meant defeat.

Recovery taught me the opposite. Surrender was the beginning of victory.

As long as I insisted on controlling my addiction, circumstances, people, and outcomes, I remained exhausted. It left me sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Surrender doesn’t mean becoming passive. It means recognizing what belongs to me and what belongs to God. Every morning I have another opportunity to loosen my grip and say, “Your will, not mine.”

Sometimes the strongest thing we can possibly do is stop fighting God and trust Him.

Soul Search

What am I gripping tightly that God is asking me to release?

“Submit yourselves, then, to God.” — James 4:7
