Reflection
I’m a lifelong learner…I always have two or three books going at the same time… and I really don’t like to read… thank you, Audible.
Not too long ago, I decided to read at least one Wall Street Journal article about AI daily.
Whether we like it or not, AI is a big part of our world’s future.
I’ve often wondered what it was like in the late 19th century when the “horseless carriage” was coming onto the scene.
Anyway, this writing is not about AI, but about the importance of keeping our brains active through learning.
Intentional action includes the decision to keep learning. Growth doesn’t happen automatically as we age. We can accumulate years without accumulating wisdom if we are not deliberate about it.
Reading. Listening. Asking questions. Sitting with people who know more than we do and being humble enough to take notes. These are active choices.
I’ve found that the most effective people I know are almost always avid learners. They read across disciplines. They remain curious. They aren’t threatened by what they don’t know…they’re intrigued by it.
Curiosity is a kind of courage.
A courage that leads to action and to growth.
Soul Search:
- Am I growing intellectually and spiritually, or am I coasting on what I already know?
- What would I invest time in learning if I truly believed it would change my life?
