Reflection
Many people are waiting for perfect conditions, the right time, the right plan, the right level of confidence.
That mindset darn near killed me when I was battling my addiction problem. I kept delaying treatment because ALL conditions had to be perfect in order for me to proceed…can you say rationalizing and denying????
Anything great in life doesn’t arrive before the starting line; it’s forged after it.
For example, when it comes to your physical health, no one runs a mile well on the first day.
Or for your faith journey, nobody prays eloquently on day one.
But those who start — imperfectly, humbly, consistently — are the ones who grow.
My life took a dramatic turn for the good when, out of desperation, I prayed the simplest, most powerful prayer of all time, “God help me!” How eloquent a prayer was that?
My journey to becoming an Ironman triathlete began when I jumped into the pool with very little knowledge of what it took to swim a half lap, let alone 2.4 miles in open water.
God doesn’t ask for polished efforts.
He asks for willing ones.
Stop waiting to feel ready.
Do it afraid.
Start small.
Start today.
Growth is always on the other side of beginning…I always write from experience.

- What have I been postponing, waiting to feel “ready” for?
- What would starting imperfectly today make possible?
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)
