Peace of Focus

When you focus on what matters, peace finds you there.

Reflection

About thirty years ago, I developed my P.E.A.C.E. acrostic to share with a group of junior high students about what it takes to lead a life of peace. Drawing from my study of great leaders, I noticed six common traits—they lived them out, and they carried a steady sense of PEACE.

P.E.A.C.E.:

  • P — Purpose / Plan / Priorities: Know what matters and align your days accordingly.
  • E — Effort: Show up consistently and do the work in front of you.
  • A — Attitude: Choose your mindset—calm, steady, uplifting, and grounded in truth.
  • C — Community: Stay connected; don’t carry life alone.
  • E — Energy: Protect and renew what fuels your body, mind, and spirit.
  • Seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance and help in each of the five areas of P.E.A.C.E. as early and as often as you need.

Living the tenets of P.E.A.C.E. is a powerful way to keep life from stealing your joy, and a practical path to leading yourself and others with clarity and strength.

Truth

Stress isn’t your enemy—it’s a signal.

P.E.A.C.E. is a great way to respond.

Isaiah 26:3, “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”
