Faith Over Fear – Day 43 – Complaining and Consuming

It takes much more energy to complain and consume than to contribute.

Reflection

I believe there are three types of people in the world—complainers, consumers, and contributors.

You can spot them everywhere:

In the workplace…
The complainer points out problems.
The consumer clocks in and out.
The contributor finds solutions and elevates the team.

In relationships…
The complainer keeps score.
The consumer takes what they need.
The contributor invests, serves, and builds trust.

In faith…
The complainer questions God when things get hard.
The consumer seeks blessings without thanks.
The contributor lives out their calling and serves others.

In everyday life…
The complainer focuses on what’s wrong.
The consumer looks for comfort.
The contributor looks for ways to improve things.

Complaining and consuming are rooted in fear—fear there’s not enough, fear of loss, fear of effort without return. That scarcity mindset keeps us stuck and small.

Back in my addiction days, I was the ultimate complainer and consumer. Addiction is a very selfish and self-focused disorder.

God loves to work with contributors, as he designed the world to work through those of us willing to make it a better place.

When you move from taking to contributing, life doesn’t just get better—it gets clearer, lighter, and far more meaningful.

I write from experience.

Soul Search

Where do you spend most of your time today–complaining, consuming, or contributing?

Acts 20:35 (NIV), “In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work, we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'”
