Reflection
Self-care is not selfish—it’s essential, especially in recovery. Healing from addiction or breaking free from destructive habits requires strength in body, mind, and spirit. When we are well-nourished spiritually, mentally, and physically, we are better equipped to make wise choices, resist temptation, and keep moving toward transformation.
Years ago, I sat down and listed my key life priorities. At the very top was my personal fitness, encompassing spiritual, mental, and physical aspects. I realized that every other priority—Lori, kids, grandkids, friends, work, and service—flows from how well I care for myself. If I neglect this foundation, everything else suffers as a result. But when I honor it, I’m able to show up with clarity, resilience, and love.
Self-care isn’t about indulgence; it’s about stewardship.
God entrusts us with one body, one mind, and one spirit. Take care of them and they will be great assistants in helping you take care of all aspects of your life.

Am I tending to my spiritual, mental, and physical beings in an effective manner?
1 Corinthians 3:16-17, “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.”
