Lent Mindset Day 17 – The Past is Meant to be The Past

Stay so focused on maximizing today and building your future that there’s no room to dwell on past hurts, failures, or mistakes.

Reflection

In my early sobriety, shame and guilt from past failures often tried to take over my mind. But you can’t move forward while stuck in the past—especially in regret. The enemy wants us trapped there because it keeps us from living out our God-given purpose.

I am so grateful for the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous as they helped me move on from the wreckage of my past.

The past can be a powerful teacher, but it should never be a prison. Too often, we carry the weight of old wounds, failures, and regrets, allowing them to shape our present and steal our future.

BUT–we weren’t meant to live looking in the rearview mirror.

Letting go doesn’t mean forgetting—it means refusing to let the past define us. Each day is a new opportunity to grow, heal, and move forward with purpose.

Let go, lean in, and move forward with confidence.

Isaiah 43:18-19“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”

Thought for the day: Past hurts and failures were not meant to be lifelong companions of your mindset. Let them go and focus on the new things God is doing in your life.
