Lent Day 31 – Peace and Life Stuff

One thing about God, he often talks to us without saying a thing. But our heart has trouble hearing Him if it is not at peace.

Reflection

“We live in a very fast-paced world,” says Captain Obvious.

But it’s only fast-paced if we allow it.

My mind is always on the run, and I have to be intentional about doing activities that slow it down so I can ensure that my spirit is aligned with His.

Last week, due to some “life stuff,” my mind was running at warp speed, so I amped up my workout for the day, which is always mind-cleansing and then sat in a steam room for ten minutes. After about five minutes in the steam room, life slowed down, and I was at peace.

“Nothing changed but me,” says Captain Obvious.

Question

How do you maintain your peace when “life stuff” is happening?

Spoiler alert…you won’t find peace in watching the news 24/7. 🙂

Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Here is a translation from my Bible about Philippians 4:7:

God’s peace is different from the world’s peace. True peace is not found in positive thinking, in absence of conflict, or in good feelings. It comes from knowing that God is in control.

Journal your thoughts:

What am I grateful for today?

In what way(s) will I bring light to the world today?

What will I deny myself to draw closer to God and gain more peace in my life today?

Prayer:

God, I offer myself to Thee—To build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life. May I do Thy will always! Amen.
