Nonsense and His Sense

I’ve never seen any life transformation that didn’t begin with the person in question finally getting tired of their own nonsense.

— Elizabeth Gilbert —

Reflection

When I saw the opening quote, I thought about all the nonsense that goes through my mind throughout the day.

Nonsense such as…

  • I don’t have time.
  • I’m getting old.
  • I’m not good enough.
  • If only…
  • You don’t understand…
  • Comparing myself to others
  • Politics
  • Religion
  • War

Luckily for me, I can discern nonsense from His sense.

Fact

Many years ago, I decided to try my best to follow the teachings of Jesus, and slowly but surely, He has helped me realize that the enemy is behind every nonsensical thought I have.

When I spend too much time with a nonsensical thought, I use the exercise NiCiDi.

  1. Name it…say the nonsense out loud.
  2. Claim it…call it what it is…utter nonsense.
  3. Dump it…turn it over to Him in prayer as many times as needed until it is gone.

Question

What nonsense are you allowing to inhabit your thoughts?

Try NiCiDin’ it while believing in the scripture below.

It works!

John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
