Flashback
- I can recall a time in my addiction journey when I would call out to God for help, and nothing happened. This caused me to give up on God as I turned my back on Him.
- Then, a couple years later, in a last-ditch effort, because I was losing my desire to live, I prayed the most powerful prayer of all time, “God help me.” The following day, my family intervened and helped me take the first steps in “discovering my strengths.”
What is the difference between point one and point two?
In point two, I took action. In point one, I wanted God to take all the action for me.
I’ve heard stories of some addicts who prayed, and God relieved them of their addiction. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for me, and I’m grateful for that, as I learned so much about myself while journeying through this self-inflicted life test I had created.
God always knows what we need to become better human beings.
Back to Reality
Overcoming challenges and tests is all a part of our faith journeys.
In some instances, God removes them for us.
But most of the time, God equips us to walk through them and put them behind us.
The key is to keep praying and never stop moving forward.
We grow and become better people through the act of praying and fighting through our tests and challenges.
BTW…
Whatever you are going through…
Keep praying.
Keep walking forward.
Keep putting the challenges behind you.
and
Keep growing.
I always write from experience.
Also…
This is the third anniversary of my friend Bob’s diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
Your prayers are working!
Keep them going!
He’s currently training to run a marathon!
Sometimes God doesn’t move our mountains from our lives, but instead equips us with the tools and strengths to go over them and put them behind us.
