Reflection
The opening quote reminded me of a conversation I once had with a fellow brother recovering from alcohol addiction.
During a year when he was facing several difficult health issues, he shared with me that at one point, he became so frustrated with the daily pain he was experiencing that he decided he was going to drink again.
He had been sober for 41 years.
Then he said, “After that crazy thought, I came to my senses and turned to God and asked him to ease my pain.”
He then said, “After my prayer, I can’t say my physical pain went away, but instead, God reminded me of all the additional pain I would bring back into my life if I decided to pick up a drink.”
No matter what we face in life, we have a choice in how we handle it. Don’t let other people, places, and things get in the way of achieving your BHAG. If they try to, battle them with prayer.
Romans 5:3-5, “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”Â
