Reflection
Thirty-four years ago, on this day, I was 159 days sober, which means I was very early in recovery, and my mental state was still quite fragile.
This day, thirty-four years ago, brought with it additional anxiety and worry because Lori had gone into labor with our third child.
You may be wondering why I had so much anxiety. It was because of the “old tapes” playing in my head from Jordan’s birth a couple of years prior. Most of you know about the many complications that came with his birth and how close we came to losing him.
On top of my extreme anxiousness was a faith walk in its infant stages and still very weak. I believed in God but had little to no faith and trust in His incredible powers.
Ultimate Blessing
And then, late in the afternoon on January 15, 1988, God blessed us with a beautiful, full of energy, blue-eyed, HEALTHY baby girl.
What made this blessing extra special is God chose to have Michelle Marie enter the world on her mother’s birthday.
On January 15, 1988, I received God’s message to me loud and clear, “I got this, quit doubting me.”
I’ve doubted Him very little since that day.
Are you anxious about something?
Do you worry about things that are out of your control?
Are “old tapes” from the devil trying to steal joy from you?
Understand God’s always “got it,” and all you have to do is trust Him.
Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”
