Reflection
Almost 2000 years ago, on Holy Saturday, the day after Jesus’ death, I picture His followers being in a complete state of shock, having no clue what had just happened to their King.
It had to be an unbelievably difficult day for Christ-followers. I’m surmising it was a day filled with negative emotions like frustration, doubt, grief, disbelief, and possibly some anger towards Jesus.
Have you ever had a day like that?
Yeah, me too.
It’s called life, and I refer to those particular days as “desert days.”
Days where the air I am breathing seems hot, dry, and very uncomfortable to my spirit.
Days where I’m simply existing.
Days where I’m fully hydrated but still thirsting for something.
Days where I’m not necessarily lost, but I feel as though I need to be found.
Fact
The opening quote is so true. We have a choice when we face mountains in our life…we can lean on our faith and move them or walk in the desert and allow the devil to expand them.
What Jesus’ followers didn’t know on the first Holy Saturday that we know for certain today is–He never leaves us and is always there for us to grab hold of no matter how lost we may feel or how dry, and worthless the air around us may seem…I write from experience.
Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.”
