A friend and reader of EagleLaunch sent me the opening quote in response to my writing from yesterday.
In his email, to me, he gave an example of a car assembly line where the left front fender of every third car falls off. Instead of putting someone in place downline in order to fix every third fender, the real “fix” occurs upline by finding why the fenders are falling off and fixing that problem.
He then went on to equate the same thinking in why a Christian’s life is failing. A Christian who knows right from wrong but every thought or action, or every other thought or action, is wrong. He shared with me that Christians like this have a broken belief system and they need to fix their “upline” problem which causes the wrong thoughts and/or actions.
Reflection
The upline system problem for all of mankind is a heart that is filled and fueled by the world.
The upline system solution for all of mankind is a heart filled and fueled by Christ.
How is your heart?
How is your belief system?
Does it begin with Christ?
Back to My Reality
So yesterday morning I noticed the annual Bengals Yearbook sitting on my desk. On the front cover was a picture of our own “savior” Joe Burrow.
Once again, if you have no idea what I’m talking about, good for you.
Joe Burrow is the real deal and I’m not saying that just because I’m a Bengals fan. Ask any expert in football and they will say the same.
Ten and a half games into this season, Joe got his leg crushed due to a systems failure of the Bengals…we have a very weak offensive line whose primary goal is to protect Joe, our franchise quarterback, our “savior.” The protection has been weak, at best, all year, and nothing was ever changed and we lost our “hope” for yet another year.
When I saw that Bengal Yearbook, I got really angry and grabbed it and was about to throw it in the trash but then I thought, “Joe could end up being the greatest quarterback of all time and I would have this first yearbook with his picture on it still wrapped the same way it was when it arrived in the mail…and someday it could be worth a lot of money.
I shared this thought with Lori.
She shook her head and asked me if I read my writing from yesterday.
Another form of insanity is depending on other people, places, things, and the systems of a sports team for your happiness and serenity. 🙂
2021 is just around the corner.
What goals do you have for improving your life?
What systems need to be changed in order to assist you in turning your goals into reality?
Proverbs 4:23, “Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”
