A couple of weeks ago, Lori and I were closing out a rare evening together pumping gas in Piqua, Ohio. Yes, we definitely live on the edge. 🙂
As I got out to gas our car, there was a gentleman on the other side of the bay digging for change in the front window seal of his truck. The truck was at least thirty years old and was idling very loudly. I noticed the front fender was attached to the truck with the help of wire and duct tape.
Once the man got his money together, he turned around and started walking towards the pay station and as he passed me he said, “Jesus loves you.” I said back to him, “Thanks, he loves you too.”
Then I had this thought, “Walk your talk and drop a twenty-dollar bill onto his car seat when he isn’t watching.” I’ve lived long enough to know that thoughts like this come from God and it’s up to me to be obedient, so I walked over and dropped a twenty through the open window of the driver side of his truck.
What I didn’t mention in the beginning is that the day Lori and I were closing out was another very rough day as her mom and dad are battling serious health issues. Fortunately, we’ve not wavered in our faith over the past several months and is why my eyes, ears, and heart were open to God’s direction.
At that moment, God knew all three of us needed a LARGE dose of gratitude and we all received it.
Yes, Jesus definitely loves us.
Who is God calling you to bless?
Just do it–and reap the rewards of gratitude.
