Move and Pray

Nothing diminishes anxiety faster than action.

— Walter Anderson —

My mind is always “on.”  I cannot afford to just sit around and do nothing because when I do, my mind often tries to take me to anxiety-laced places I don’t want to go.

Even when I wake up in the middle of the night I am thinking.  Sometimes the thoughts are good and sometimes they are not so good.  My not so good thoughts are usually born out of some type of fear and end up causing anxiety.  Instead of ruminating on the bad thoughts I take action and begin praying.  Prayer always works.

I have found there is no better remedy to anxiety than purposeful action and often-times there is no better purposeful action you can take than prayer.

Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition. with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  (NIV)
