Act

Never confuse movement with action.

— Ernest Hemingway —

What a great quote by Mr. Hemingway.

We live in a very busy society.

It is easy to get sucked into being busy while not making much progress in life.

Once I found my purpose in life and started creating goals grounded in it, it became much easier for me to say ‘no’ to being busy because I knew what actions I needed to say ‘yes’ to.

If what I’m about to do doesn’t align with who I am and what I stand for, I usually don’t do it because I’m focused on acting upon the important things in my life.

I love the story of Martha and Mary.  Jesus was stopping by their house and Martha was frantic about making Him a great meal and having the home in order while Mary simply sat at His feet and listened to Him.  When Martha started whining to Jesus about Mary not doing anything, he corrected her and told her what Mary was doing was the most important thing.

Are you Martha or Mary?

Do you spend your life doing important things or busy things?

The Mary’s I know, know who and whose they are and where they are going.

Luke 10:38-42, “As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.  She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.  But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made.  She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself?  Tell her to help me!’  ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, ‘you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed–or indeed only one.  Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.'”
