Alaska Trip – Day Nine
Obscure/Relevance Topic: Â Transition
We spent the last thirty-seven hours on the ship. Â Lori was honing her artistic skills, I was reading and writing…and doing my best to overcome my urge(s) to visit the “all you can eat” ice cream bar.
Today is a day of transition as we are docked in Seward and about to take an eight hour bus ride through Anchorage and on up to Denali National Park.
Yesterday I wrote my obscure relevant thoughts about living life one experience at a time. Â When we live this way we find there is a bridge between experiences. Â The bridge is called transition.
The transition experience is something that cannot be ignored or avoided…if you want to continue to grow.
I know people who’ve been stuck in an experience for a long time because of their fear of letting go of the past and/or the “comfortable.”
Six years ago I decided it was time for me to move on in my professional career. God was nudging me for at least two years prior to my decision to begin a new chapter in my life. The reason it took me two years to listen to what God was telling me to do was because of my fear of transitioning to a new place. In essence I was afraid of the place called “no longer and not yet” (see opening quote).
Today I’ve learned to try my best to embrace transition.  Transition is uncomfortable and sometimes weird as it is the experience between experiences…we’ve never been there before.
If we go through transition with God as our guide, it is amazing what awaits us on the other side…I write from experience.
What is waiting for you on the other side?
Highlight for the day:  I was dreading the eight hour bus ride from Seward to Denali…a transition that had to take place in order to experience Denali. The picture to the left is one of many that was waiting for us “on the other side.”

Psalm 121:1-7, “I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains?  No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.  He won’t let you stumble, your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.  Not on your life!  Israel’s Guardian will never doze or sleep. God’s your guardian, right at your side to protect you–Shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke.  God guards you from all evil, he guards your very life.  He guards you when you leave and when you return, he guards you now, he guards you always.  (MSG)
