Fear & Excuses

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.

God at Center-Mental PPTOver the next few weeks we will be studying excerpts from my book, “FEAR – PROOF” as we look at how damaging fear can be to the Mental component of our Wheel of Life.

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.”  ~Ben Franklin

Our fear of or unwillingness to face reality is often the reason behind excuses.  In essence we feel as though our admission of error represents weakness.  This is a lie the devil loves for us to buy into.

Our character is built upon our ability to handle reality.  I believe the devil tries his best to get us to run from reality through excuse-making as it weakens our character.

I used to have an excuse for everything.  Today I know if I’m not the problem, then there will be no solution.

When faced with a problem stop running from it through excuse-making and instead thank God for it and face it because in every problem lies the solution and an opportunity to grow in character.

I write from experience.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NIV), “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Additional Scripture to read and reflect upon:  Philippians 4:6, Philippians 4:13, 2 Corinthians 5:17

What beliefs, thoughts and actions cause you to struggle with excuses?
