Fear & Denial

Denial is the worst kind of lie...because it's the lie you tell yourself.

God at Center-Mental PPTOver the next few weeks we will be studying excerpts from my book, “FEAR – PROOF” as we look at how damaging fear can be to the Mental component of our Wheel of Life.

Denial is the worst kind of lie…because it’s the lie you tell yourself.  ~Unknown

Denial is tricky because it evolves over time and causes us to create our own version of the truth and reality.

I’ve seen denial kill a lot of addicts and it almost killed me.  My denial rose from my belief that I had enough will power to conquer my problem on my own.  The famous last words to myself at the end of almost every day back then was; “I’ll stop tomorrow.”

Is there something going on in your life you know is not right but you can’t muster up the courage to face it?

Do you fear showing weakness if you seek help in solving a personal or professional problem?

Are you doing things the same way but expecting different results (i.e. insanity)?

Do you find yourself not wanting to confront your problems so instead you rationalize or run from them?

These are all examples of denial and denial is a dangerous by-product of fear.

The best medicine for denial is the truth.  Seek the truth from God and others who love you enough to tell you the truth and of course continuously pray for the truth a day at a time.

Change and growth are painful but there is nothing more painful than to stay where you are, when you and the rest of the world know you need to change.

John 8:32 (NIV), “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Additional Scripture to read and reflect upon:  John 14:6, Psalm 145:18, John 17:17
