Wheel of Life – What’s at Your Center?

God may not guide us in an obvious way because he wants us to make decisions based on faith and character.

If you are just joining us, this post is a part of a series that began on February 1, 2016.

I remember years ago taking my business through a culture transformation.  I had new partners with a focus on aggressive growth.  Although the previous culture wasn’t bad, I knew we needed to make some significant changes in order to achieve our new goals.

I knew the pace was going to pick up and we no longer would have time for everyone to gain clearance from the top in order to make decisions.  In essence we had to convert from a top-down decision making system to a shared conscience.  The goal was to equip our teammates with what they needed in order to make sound decisions on the spot.

Whether it be a business or a human being, our decisions are born from our thoughts and our thoughts are born from our beliefs and values.  With our business, in order for us to be successful in changing our decision making process we needed to create a fresh set of core values to guide our thinking.

Over a twenty-four month period we developed and brought to life a set of values that were at the center of every decision we made.  This shift in our culture and our thinking was the primary reason we were able to effectively navigate through exponential growth  for several years.

Change for the good is an inside out operation…see the scripture below.

More to follow tomorrow.

Romans 12:2, “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.  Instead, fix your attention of God.  You’ll be changed from the inside out.  Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.  Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”  (MSG)
