the MOMENT

On the final night when Jesus was betrayed and taken to be put to death he knew he had all the power he needed in order to stop what was about to happen but he didn’t. He said to his father, “Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father save me from this hour?’ No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. Father, glorify your name.!” (John 12:27-28 NIV)

Jesus came for many reasons and one of those was to serve as a role model for those of us who choose to follow him. In Jesus’ final hours when he knew he was about to face a horrible death, he was still living to glorify his Father’s name.

We are called to glorify God’s name in all we do. I don’t know about you, but I fall way short each and every day. The key is to never stop trying because each attempt at glorifying God’s name in our everday life is effort towards becoming what God wants us to be. Always remember that as Christians our bad moments and bad days, when glorifying God is not high on our list of priorities, are wiped clean by that moment Jesus said “Father, glorify your name.”

That moment forever changed history and will forever change your life in unbelievable ways if you want it to.

One Response to the MOMENT

How true Jay. Jesus, when faced with his imminent suffering that was about to come was still focused on doing his fathers’ business. he went back to his disciples three times only to find them sleeping. He cared so much for them and the service that they were going to undertake that he had wake them and remind them how quickly they can fall into the trappings of sin. It can make a guy paranoid about ever sleeping again. Thank God for His forgiveness, love and grace!
