Small Disciplines

Small disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great achievements gained slowly over time.

Next Sunday I will be doing another 1/2 Ironman Triathlon which consist of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run…I’m not boasting but seeking your prayer support as this distance usually means I am working the “old” heart for 6 solid hours and also missing lunch. 🙂

I’ve been training for and competing in triathlons ever since I hung up my basketball shoes in 2001.  I usually do 3 or 4 triathlons each summer and every other year I throw a 1/2 Ironman on my schedule in order to take my training up a notch…and to prove to myself I am not getting old.

I usually start training in February and by this time of year I’ve usually exceeded 2000 miles combined through swimming, biking and running.

Every year my training begins by jumping in the pool on a cold day in early February…which I always dread…and then continuing the training a day at a time until my final competition in late September.

Yes…Small disciplines repeated with consistency every day lead to great achievements gained slowly over time…

What are thinking you should be training for?

Maybe it’s time to start putting small disciplines into your daily routine on an ongoing basis.
