HabitFast Journey-Day 16-Change

When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.

— Victor Frankl —

HABIT

I have such great respect for Mr. Frankl and the quote above was most likely generated while he endured three years of the atrocities that came with living in a Nazi concentration camp during World War II.

After surviving the death camp, Frankl wrote the best-seller, “Man’s Search for Meaning,” and in that book he concluded, “even in the most absurd, painful, and dehumanized situation, life has potential meaning and that, therefore, even suffering is meaningful.”

The most difficult form of change is when we are trying to change ourselves.  The key to enduring the “suffering” associated with personal change is how we look at it.  We can either dance with it and find meaning or run from it and not change.

Don’t give up on whatever you are trying to change.  The suffering really does have meaning…I write from experience.

James 1:12, “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”  (NIV)

HabitFast Journey Action Steps:

1.  Start the day-reflect, meditate, journal and prayerfully turn your HabitFast plan and day over to God.

2.  Continue the day- stay in conscience contact with God.

3.  End of day evaluation- reflect, review, journal and give yourself a grade for the day.

4.  End of day planning-review your HabitFast Plan and note your 3 “big rocks” for tomorrow.

5.  End of day prayer-place your plan, big rocks, negative triggers and tomorrow in God’s hands.
