Uncovering Opportunities

The fruits of hard work are never owned, they are rented and the rent is due every day.

— Jay Meyer —

Most of you know I try to read the Proverb that correlates with the day of the month.  The end of today’s Proverb (Proverbs 24) is one of my all time favorites.  Verses 30 through 34 have been drivers for me for a number of years as I personally know what it’s like to allow weeds, thorns and poverty to infiltrate a life.

30-I went past the field of the sluggard,

past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgment;

31-thorns had come up everywhere,

the ground was covered with weeds,

and the stone wall was in ruins.

32-I applied my heart to what I observed

and learned a lesson from what I saw:

33-A little sleep, a little slumber,

a little folding of the hands to rest—

34-and poverty will come on you like a bandit

and scarcity like an armed man.

This Proverb applies to any and all key areas of our lives whether it be our faith, an organization we are leading, important relationships, our jobs, our finances, our health etc…A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest–and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.

What areas of your life need you to wake up, unfold your hands and get to work?

God did not create us to coast and take it easy.
