Truth is a process
October 18th, 2008
Last week I wrote about honesty and how important it is to get honest with ourselves in order to be set free from our afflictions and addictions. I just read a post on my pastor’s blog where a person from another church said his church taught “the real truth.” This comment made me reflect on the fact that it seems as though a lot of people are searching for the truth right now.
For me “truth” has been a process and truth becomes clearer and clearer as I continue to get more honest with myself and God. Long story short…I believe the Truth is found in Jesus and that Jesus is Lord and the Truth does indeed set us free eternally.
It took me many years of chipping away at my spirit and getting rid of all the lies whether they were self inflicted or of the world until I could have the Truth freely flow through me. I’ve learned what I need to do on a daily basis in order to keep the channel clear and I try my best to do those things which include prayer, meditation, scripture reading, exercise, rest and healthy eating. I know when I’ve done my best work at keeping my “Truth channel” clear because I have serenity in all situations. (This really pisses the devil off.)
As our honesty gets better the clearer the Truth becomes and the better we handle challenging situations because the Truth creates the fruits of the spirit….”love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.” (Galatians 5:22).
Oh yeah, one final note, this honesty and truth process is best done with another credible accountability person as it says in Proverbs 12:15 “The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice.”
