Thank God for the unseen…

Reading the newspaper and watching the news these days certainly causes someone like me to scratch my head and say what in the heck is going on?  This morning I read 2 news articles and had to stop and do some scripture reading in order to maintain my sanity and serenity.

First let’s talk stimulus or should I say enabling…the stimulus package that our federal government is trying to pass is a typical example of elected officials placing personalities before principles.  I am not an economist but I am a realist and rewarding poor fiscal behavior with poorer fiscal behavior will result in a bigger crisis.  This behavior is like getting an alcoholic to stop drinking by substituting it with cocaine.  More and better “wrong” simply means a bigger “wrong” to deal with.  Whatever happened to spending less than you make?

I read an article today where a Pro-Life ad was rejected for the Super Bowl.  A spokesperson said they do not run political ads.  Hmmm but the same people told PETA if you dress up your ad a little bit (they thought it was showing too much skin) we will run it.  Okay we can protect animals but who cares about the unborn?

I turned to 2 Corinithians this morning and Paul gave me some relief when I read chapter 4:18…”So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen.  For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”  Amen Paul and thank you Jesus for eternal life.

Jay, it’s all about the g.a.d. (god almighty dollar). Skin sells. People will look. However if death is involved, no one wants to go there. It’s difficult to keep everyone feeling good at a Super Bowl Party, when you are trying to market aborted fetuses. See, the gift of God is eternal life, but the wages of sin is death. The accountability necessary to keep us clean is absent. We have become accustomed to instant gratification of our flesh so much so that the charge from it has grown dim. We must take the responsibility on our own heads and change these ways. It must start with us! When we face the Father on our day of judgement, will He be able to say “well done good and faithful servant”? I thank him for his grace and the blood he shed for me.

Well I thought I had it out of my system. But when I got home this evening, I watched a “DVR’ of CBS Sunday Morning. There was a feature about Christy Hefner stepping down as the CEO of Playboy Enterprises. It appears that Ms. Hefner now will be involved with a ‘”think tank” to develop and review our new government’s policies. It was also mentioned in this segment that Playboy Enterprises is going to expand into India and the far Eastern market. To quote you Jay,”What the heck is going on?’ Why would one of the worlds’ foremost pornograghers want to get into an overpopulated low income per capita market? I watched Joyce Myers as she taught the word recently in India. She mentioned her mission work and showed videos of some of the brothels where children, “the least of these”, were being used as sex slaves, exchanging sex just so they could have food and shelter to stay alive. Again why would a floundering company move into that market. Why would it’s ex-CEO be asked for advice by our government? What healthy advice could be given? I’m sorry, but I feel this country has suffered enough toxic thinking. Wake up America or smell the sulphur.

Reed I am with you buddy. I really tried hard to convince myself that Barak wasn’t what I thought he was. He is doing nothing to change my original opinion of him. We will continue to experience this divine awakening as long as our leaders are sleeping.
