Proverbs 25:6, “Do not exalt yourself in the king’s presence, and do not claim a place among great men…” (NIV)
Jesus explains this Proverb further in Matthew 14:11, “For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
At the end of the day there is one Being we should always be striving to exalt and that is Jesus. And it needs to take place in our thoughts, words and deeds. Exalting Jesus is a great way to prevent us from exalting ourselves.
