Obscure Relevance – Explore

The best journeys in life are those that answer questions you never thought to ask.

We were wired to explore…

The following is an EagleLaunch post from two years ago when Lori and I traveled to Alaska…

Alaska Trip – Day Ten

Obscure/Relevance Topic:  Explore

DSC_8081We woke up to the majestic beauty of Denali and haven’t even seen the mountain yet!  Oh my Lord!

Explore came to me as I was doing my morning devotion with God.  God wires us to explore.

Today we explored the tundra of Alaska in and around Denali National Park.

A helicopter dropped us off about 7,000 feet up the mountain…in the middle of nowhere.  All we had was a guide, our cameras and our five senses to take in all the beauty of a four hour trek through the tundra of Alaska.

DSC_8076How many of us go through life and never explore new things?  Fear is a big roadblock to exploring.  I had to get rid of my fear of riding in a helicopter in order to experience some of the most beautiful views I’ve ever experienced in my life.

We often know there is more out there but our craving for comfort trumps our desire to explore new things.

Exploring opens our hearts, minds and souls to new beauty…it’s all around us.

I believe God wired us to explore.

Highlight for the day:  Observing a golden eagle sitting high atop a cliff peering down at a family of squirrels for an hour and not moving.  We aren’t the only creatures willing to wait an hour in order to have a good meal.
