New Year New You

Be at war with your vices, peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man.

— Benjamin Franklin —

OK, the new year is officially happening. Today marks week 2 of 2018 and I’m assuming some of you have already fallen off your New Year’s resolution bandwagon.

I love the opening quote by Ben Franklin and it should be the primary goal for all of us each and every year.

Surely we can wage war on one vice and make peace with one person this year–can’t we?

Life is too short to not do what we know we need to do.

What vice do you need to wage war on this year?

What vice is preventing you from being all God has called you to be?

Write it down and prayerfully turn it over to God on a daily basis.

What neighbor is your spirit and mind calling you to make peace?

Is there someone you’ve wronged or is there someone who has wronged you?

Write his or her name down and prayerfully turn the relationship over to God on a daily basis.

God won’t relieve you of your vice and strained relationship immediately, but if you remain steadfast in daily prayer, both will eventually be lifted from you…I write from experience.

Galatians 5:22, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,”

Prayer for the day–Heavenly Father, thank you for a new year and thank you for your never-ending presence. I want to make 2018 my best year ever but I know I can’t do it when I’m holding onto people and things which prevent me from being all you’ve made me to be.

Please give me the willingness to turn my 2018 goals over to you and to follow-through on what You and I know needs to be done. You know the vice I need to work on as well as the relationship which needs repaired. Let’s get this done in 2018!!! It’s in Your Son’s name I pray. Amen.
