More on Faith

James 2:8, “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” (NIV)
James 2:10, “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” (NIV)
I was talking with a friend the other day and he shared with me his intent of focusing on hooking up with God the first thing in the morning every morning. He said, “it seems like my faith walk is the strongest when my life is the most challenging and I’ve decided to strengthen my faith walk even when I don’t have challenges in my life.” That my friends is the key to growing in faith. Don’t wait to put on your armor only when the going gets tough, but put on your armor daily and in-turn the “tough” get going and when challenges do arise, you will approach them with a new peace and freedom you never thought possible.
God is always there but would rather be a God of commitment rather than a God of convenience for us. James tells us very simply what we need to do in the scriptures above…turn and draw close to God in a humble fashion (we don’t have the answers and he does)…and he will draw nearer to you…but don’t wait for storms in your life in order for you to commit to this simple act.
Faith is grown by reaching to God on a continuous basis…
