Kind and Change

When you are kind to others, it not only changes you but it changes the world.

— Harold Kushner —

The opening quote is quite simple but very true. After reading it, I journaled some “the world according to Jay,” thoughts,

I view the world and its contents as this massive ball of energy created and monitored by God.

There are two forms of energy–positive and negative. In other words, energy which is pleasing to God and energy which is pleasing to the enemy.

As human beings, we play a significant role in the energy makeup of the world

Every time we are mean to another, whether outwardly or in our minds, we add negative energy to the world.

Every time we are kind to another, we add positive energy to the world.

In order for the world to contain more positive than negative energy, our kindness must exceed our meanness.

I use this thinking with telemarketers, self-righteous no-it-all’s, inattentive convenience store check out clerks, political fanatics, religious lunatics, double lane fast food places etc…

All day long I’m either contributing or stealing positive energy from the world.

Kindness definitely changes the world.

Ephesians 4:31-32, “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
