After Thoughts

The successful warrior is the average man, with laser-like focus.

— Bruce Lee —

Focus is a huge difference maker and can be enhanced by simply removing anything or anyone that doesn’t align with who you are and where you are going.

Last week during a couple of coaching sessions with clients, I had to remind the clients that there is no bigger time waster than negative self talk.

Each of the clients got into “would have, could have, should have.” They were both having second thoughts about something they had done and/or said. There is nothing wrong with having second thoughts. But there’s a whole lot wrong with having third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eight, ninth, tenth or more “after-thoughts” about something.

I’ve done a lot of stupid things in my day and I’ve said some even stupider things, but I would not be where I am in my life if I hadn’t been able to constructively and immediately deal with my second thoughts.

The best way for me to let go of my second thoughts is by journaling and turning them over to God.

Do you have a problem with second, third, fourth and fifth thoughts?

The devil loves to get in our heads and make us second-guess ourselves.

There is only one Person who has ever walked this earth with perfection.

Why not draw on His strength to to let go of the thoughts rattling around in your brain which rob you of your focus?

Psalm 119:15, “I will meditate on your precepts and fix my eyes on your ways.”

Heavenly Father, You’ve given me a brain so I can help make Your world a better place. Give me the ability to quit second and third-guessing my decisions. Keep my brain free of the clutter of over-thinking and focused on only those things which are important. It’s in Your Son’s name I pray. Amen.
