Crushing Fear – Day 7 – Boasting

Tell enough people how great you are and eventually you won’t have anyone to tell.

— Jay Meyer —

imageBoasting, bragging and self-promoting are behaviors born from the fear of not being good enough.  This fear usually leads to a feeling of insecurity which can best be overcome (we think) by telling everyone how great we are or how much we know.

I am certain when it is all said and done God will care very little about our worldly accomplishments but instead be most concerned with what we did for His people.

Today I try my best to replace any and all desires I have to bring attention to myself with a desire to bring attention to the transforming powers of God.

When my life is more about God than it is about me, things seem to go a little bit smoother.

Jeremiah 9:23-24 (NIV), “This is what the Lord says:  ‘Let not the wise boast of their wisdom or the strong boast of their strength or the rich boast of their riches, but let those who boast, boast about this: that they understand and know me.'”
