Crushing Fear – Day 47 – The Light

HAPPY EASTER! HE IS RISEN! GOD IS VICTORIOUS-ALWAYS!

— The Light —

Several years ago I experienced what no leader of any organization wants to experience.  One of my young delivery drivers lost his life while doing his job.  He was hit head-on by an out of control vehicle traveling at a very high speed.

I was on a family vacation when this tragedy took place and jumped on a plane the next day in order to meet with the young man’s family as well as my business family.

My visit with his mother and father is a visit I will never forget.

I recall walking into their living room and amid their sadness and grief, I could sense peace and serenity.  I knew they were strong Christians, but in their time of darkness they exhibited their Christian values like I’ve never witnessed before.

Quite simply, they exuded the fruits of the Spirit–(peace, love, forgiveness, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, self-control, and joy).

I learned more about the amazing possibilities and expansive grace of Christ through my time with this young man’s family, than at any other time in my life.  Their witness in this tragic time was and still is the most powerful sermon I’ve ever experienced.

Today I know they were people who walked the walk.  They lived in such a way that Jesus lived fully through their lives.  Which is Jesus’ goal for all of us.

imageHe is risen so we CAN rise and have life–a new life where the Spirit of God, through the death and resurrection of Jesus, lives in us.

He is risen so we may live in the world of CAN where…

1.  We CAN love even when we don’t want to love.

2.  We CAN forgive others and ourselves, even if we don’t want to.

3.  We CAN give when we don’t feel as though we have anything to give.

4.  We CAN open our eyes, ears, hands, minds and hearts after years of being closed.

5.  We CAN have peace when the world around us is in turmoil.

6.  We CAN break free from our dependence upon people, places and things for our happiness.

7.  We CAN break a bondage from an addiction or a past life-event that has held us hostage for years.

8.  We CAN look our illness right in the eyes and trust God has our back no matter the outcome.

9.  We CAN see God in a tragedy that once held us captive in hell.

10.  We CAN find ourselves living in a world of opportunities, solutions and fortunes instead of problems, turmoil and poverty; a life with freedom, infinite possibilities and no end.

“I know I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13).
