“All I want from tomorrow…

is to get it better than today.”  These are words from Huey Lewis and The News’ song ‘Jacob’s Ladder.”  I can remember listening to the cassette tape of their album “Fore”…yes cassette tape…over and over once I got into recovery.  The two songs I clung to were this one and “Hip to Be Square.”  Jacob’s Ladder” reminded me of the 12 Steps I was attempting to begin and “Hip to be Square;” well, I was trying to convince myself it was no longer hip to drink and drug.

As a life coach and a lifelong fan and supporter of people trying to attain their dreams I am convinced if you get tomorrow better than today and string a few thousand days like that together,or maybe even one hundred, you will achieve your dreams.

In my experience of working with others over the pasts several years I have found:

1.  Not everyone cares about improving and getting better.  Often “comfort” (no matter how bad the “comfort” is) becomes their worst friend and/or enemy.

2.  Some enjoy bitching about their life circumstances with no desire to do anything to change them.

3.  Some talk a great talk but never walk it…these people are the ones who have the same complaints about people, places and things…year after year after year.  They don’t realize they are the problem.

4.  Others want to change but are paralyzed by the failures of the past and/or old beliefs and don’t realize it is very difficult to overcome these obstacles without help from others.

5.  Some have no clue what it means to go after goals and dreams because a parent told them they were worthless at least once a week or more while growing up and they bought into it.

But  for the people who want to change, it is all about creating a plan of improvement and developing a desire to execute the plan, then executing it and getting better one day at a time.

For a simple formula to help you with the attainment of your dreams and goals check out the quick synopsis of my P.E.A.C.E. acrostic on the EagleLaunch home page under the “About EagleLaunch” tab:  https://www.eaglelaunch.com/about-eaglelaunch.

Keep it simple and try developing an attitude of getting tomorrow better than today.  Challenge yourself to do the next right thing on a daily basis.  There will be failures and setbacks, but view them as rungs on the ladder you are climbing; learn from them and move on.

P.S.   A great way to track your progress in getting tomorrow better than today is to journal.  I started journaling years ago and it is pretty cool to occasionally look back and observe the improvement or lack there of…if you see what I am saying.
