Affect

“We can choose to be affected by the world or we can choose to affect the world.” ~Heidi Wills

Is your life affecting the world?  You do not have to be world-known or even county-known to affect the world in a positive way.

When I saw this quote I thought of my wife Lori.

Lori is wiser than wise which means she doesn’t have to open her mouth for you to figure out how wise she is.  She also has many talents and most recently has grown into a very good artist.  But way back on February 3, 1986 her career as an aspiring young school teacher came to a grinding halt.

It was on that day our second son, Jordan was born.  Most of you know Jordan is developmentally disabled and requires someone’s presence 24 hours a day.  Without giving it a second thought Lori laid her life down so Jordan could have the best life possible.

Jordan has not only lived a good life because of Lori’s sacrifice but he has had a positive effect on lots of people along the way…especially me.

The quote above obviously stirred some emotions and thought in me but the one point I wanted to make from this long-winded blog is you can affect the world from wherever you stand or sit.  Don’t ever think you can’t.  My wife is living proof.  She not only laid her life down for Jordan but she also poured her heart and soul in raising our other two kids in a very effective manner and was totally supportive of me during my days of running the business.

What I know today is those who’ve affected the world the most are those who’ve sacrificed personal gain for the good of the whole.

If you think about it, God does his best work through our sacrifices, not our achievements.

How are your affects looking these days?

Are you all about achieving or are you willing to sacrifice?

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.  It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.”  ~Nelson Mandela

Your life has been very significant Lori K. Meyer!
